First Circle Medical, Inc. is commercializing it's technology of Extracorporeal Whole Body Hyperthermia (EWBH) to treat select viral indications. Highest emphasis indications are for patients with hepatitis C (HCV) and patients coinfected with HCV and HIV. Coinfected patients treated during the course of the company's ongoing clinical trial in AIDS (one out of five HIV patients are coinfected with HCV) demonstrated a dramatic viral response to EWBH. Investigator and center recruitment emphasis has been in gastroenterology and hepatology, considering these specialties are the primary caregivers for the HCV population.
